The Good, The Bad and The Ugly of 3DTV

3d tvsOne of the biggest aspects of marketing still plaguing those that work in 3DTV is the fact that it’s not that tricky to sell why someone should purchase a 3DTV at some point – but it’s pretty hard to sell them on why they should buy one immediately.

Because of this, Total 3D has come up with the best, worst and ugliest aspects of 3DTV to help you decide whether you need a 3DTV in your life right now, or whether you can wait for a while:
The Good

-The WOW factor.  There really is something undeniably cool about seeing the characters and effects really leap off the screen and into your living rooms.  It’s just great to watch, and really good entertainment.

-3DTVs have a tendency to be very high spec: this means that not only do they offer you the impressive 3D services, they also make really kick-ass TVs for normal 2D, too.

The Bad.

-The glasses.  Not that they’re always a bad thing, but 3D glasses tend to come in a one size fits all design, which means that they can be uncomfortable for young ones, as well as for those that already have to wear prescription glasses.

-Content is still not freely available.  It is on the increase – Sky are now offering a completely 3D channel – but there is still just not that much 3D content available right now.

The Ugly.

-The health risks.  3DTV manuals make it very apparent that excessive viewing of 3DTV can harm your eyesight, as well as warning that pregnant women and people with heart problems should refrain from watching 3DTV where possible.

-The effects of 3DTV are extreme enough that families have been warned against letting under 5’s watch the set, as it can affect their vision development.  Whatever technology 3D uses, there is still an element of it that remains unsafe.
